Washoe County School District (WCSD)
The Washoe County School District (WCSD) operates 94 schools spread throughout the county, including the Reno/Sparks area in Northern
Nevada. The district has a total enrollment of more than 63,000 students in grades K-12.
The district provides a Gifted And
Talented Education (GATE) Program to students in
grades 2-12, including an elementary program for grades 2-6, middle school
program, high school internship program, and classes for highly gifted students in grades 3-6. The district also has an active
Gifted and Talented Advisory Council (GTAC).

Envision WCSD 2015 - Investing In Our Future has been the product of a reform-minded school board, a new leadership team, and numerous internal and external partners who worked to craft a plan that builds from past district successes, acknowledges needed areas of improvement, and is unwavering in producing improved results for all 63,000 students.

The mission of the Washoe County School District Gifted and Talented Education Program is to provide our gifted and talented
students differentiated instruction that is commensurate with their exceptional abilities through a spectrum of curricular and
instructional gifted services and opportunities.
The District will provide programs for gifted and talented students to work together under the guidance of trained teachers
in an atmosphere that is intellectually and academically rigorous, fosters creativity, and provides emotional support.

WCSD GIFTED AND TALENTED ADVISORY COUNCIL (GTAC)
GTAC serves as an advisory body to the Washoe County School District. GTAC includes parents, teachers, administrators, and
community representatives organized to represent the interests of gifted and talented students in the WCSD and to make
recommendations regarding district services and programming for GT students.

GTAC members attend regularly scheduled monthly meetings. The Council strives to be representative of all geographical
areas and reflect the diverse ethnicities of the Washoe County School District.

UPDATE: The raffle raised $17,385!! Thank you to all the students and parents who sold tickets and to the teachers for their support. The classes with the first and second highest sales earned pizza parties for their efforts.
GATE Boosters is excited to bring Washoe County families Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) enrichment in a fun and exciting atmosphere!
Hands-on activities will be provided by Washoe County School District Gifted and Talented Teachers and local organizations:

Legends is hosting a fundraiser for The WCSD Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program.
Support the Washoe County School District Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Programs at Legends Grill, Sports, & Spirits in Reno, NV (next to Whole Foods) on February 21, 2015 all day, starting at 8am!
In an effort to raise funds for classroom technology, WCSD GATE Boosters and Legends Grill invite you to breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Legends Grill, Sports & Spirits on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 8am - 10pm. Legends will donate 20% of the total bill when customers present a flyer or mention GATE to their server.
