The Washoe County School District (WCSD) operates 94 schools spread throughout the county, including the Reno/Sparks area in Northern Nevada. The district has a total enrollment of more than 63,000 students in grades K-12.

The district provides a Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program to students in grades 2-12, including an elementary program for grades 2-6, classes for highly gifted students in grades 3-6, middle school magnets, a high school program and high school internship program.

Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program

The mission of the Department of Gifted and Talented Education Programs is to provide identified gifted and talented students differentiated instruction that is commensurate with their exceptional abilities through a wide spectrum of curricular and instructional gifted services and opportunities. To meet the advanced learning needs, the District will provide programming that is intellectually and academically rigorous, fosters creativity, and provides social and emotional support.
